Buying guide
What happens from choosing a car to getting the keys, the documents you need, how you pay and what the warranty covers. References to the law follow the text as of October 2026.
How buying goes
From the first call to the keys usually takes 2–5 days. With finance, the bank’s decision and the contract add a working day.
- ChoosingOn the site with the filters, or at a showroom with an adviser. A used car’s page carries its 120-point check report.
- Test driveFrom a showroom, or from your home within Baku. Your driving licence and ID card are all you need.
- ReservationWe hold the car for 72 hours for a ₼500 deposit, which comes off the price.
- PaymentBank transfer, a card at the showroom, a partner bank’s loan, or leasing for companies. A trade-in comes off the price.
- ContractWe sign the contract of sale at the showroom. A used car’s registration papers and service book pass to you.
- RegistrationYou register the car in your name with the State Road Police. We can prepare the papers with you.
- HandoverThe car is washed and fuelled or charged. An adviser spends 30–40 minutes showing you the controls and the app.
Documents and registration
What to bring
- Private buyer
- Your ID card. On finance the bank may also ask for a salary certificate or a salary-card statement.
- Company
- An extract from the state register, the tax ID, the director’s ID card or a representative’s power of attorney.
- Trade-in
- The old car’s registration certificate, the owner’s ID card, both keys and the service book.
What we give you
- Contract
- The contract of sale and the handover certificate, in two copies.
- Payment
- An invoice; companies get an e-invoice with VAT.
- The car
- For a new car, the maker’s certificate and customs papers; for a used car, the registration certificate, the 120-point check report and the service book.
- Warranty
- The warranty book or card, two keys, the owner’s manual.
Registration
- Who does it
- The State Road Police registers the car in the buyer’s own name.
- Documents
- We give you the sale documents and the car’s papers. By law, a document a state body can get through the e-government system is not asked of the buyer (20 December 2022, No 722-VIQD).
- Our help
- We book the appointment and a manager goes with you. It usually takes one working day after the handover.
Compulsory insurance
- Why
- Third-party motor liability insurance is required by law (24 June 2011, No 165-IVQ). A car may not go on the road without the policy.
- Limit
- The limit for damage to someone else’s property is ₼5,000 (Central Bank, June 2026).
- With us
- We arrange the policy with a partner insurer on the handover day. KASKO is required on finance and optional when you pay in full.
Payment
- Bank transfer
- To our company account against an invoice. The car is yours the day the money arrives.
- Card at the showroom
- Visa and Mastercard, no fee. You may split one purchase across several cards.
- Finance
- Three partner banks’ programmes: from 12% a year, from 20% down, up to 84 months. A preliminary decision online.
- Leasing
- For companies and sole traders, from 10% advance. The calculator is on the business page.
- Trade-in
- Your old car’s value comes off the new one’s price. An online offer holds for 14 days.
- Deposit
- The ₼500 paid to reserve is part of the price. Cancel within 24 hours and it all comes back.
Prices are in manat. New car prices include 18% VAT.
Warranty
Who we are: not an official distributor
Kəhər Motors is a multi-brand dealer. We are not the official distributor or an authorised dealer of any make in Azerbaijan. We buy new cars from makers’ exporters and regional suppliers, and used cars from their owners and through trade-in. So every car carries our own warranty in place of the maker’s.
New cars
- The maker’s warranty
- Makers give their warranty on cars brought in by their official distributors. An official service may decline warranty work on a car bought from us.
- Our warranty
- Every new car gets 3 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first: engine, gearbox, drivetrain, electrics, and the hybrid or EV battery.
- Where
- At our service centres on Babek Avenue and in Ganja, free of charge. Days in repair are added to the warranty.
- Condition
- Maintenance done on time, with us or at any garage, with receipts. Wear parts are not covered.
Our own warranty on certified used cars
- Term
- 12 months or 20,000 km, whichever comes first. 6 months on cars older than 6 years or with more than 100,000 km.
- What it covers
- Engine, gearbox, drivetrain, the hybrid system and their control units. Repairs are free at our own service centre.
- What it does not cover
- Wear parts: brake pads and discs, tyres, wiper blades, the 12-volt battery, oil and filters.
- Return
- If a fault the check did not record shows up within 7 days or 500 km, we take the car back and refund in full.
- 120-point check
- 120 points and a 25 km road test. We do not sell a car as certified if it is older than 8 years or has more than 150,000 km.
Your rights over faulty goods are protected by articles 6 and 7 of the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights (19 September 1995, No 1113).
Service and repairsFrequently asked questions
Can I haggle over the price?
The price on the site is the price at the showroom, with no discount on top. This month’s offers carry their end date on the car’s page. Trade-in and finance do not change the price.
Can I buy on finance with no down payment?
No. Every partner bank asks for at least 20% down, and 30% for terms over 60 months. A trade-in can make the down payment.
Can I sell you my car without buying one?
Yes. The check and the price are the same, and we transfer the money to your account within one working day of the papers being done.
I live in Ganja. Can I buy a car that is in Baku?
Yes. We bring any car from Baku to the Ganja showroom in 2 working days, free. If you see it and do not like it, the deposit comes back in full.
What changes when a company buys?
The invoice includes VAT, and the company’s director or a representative with a power of attorney signs. Fleet prices for three cars or more and leasing are on the business page.
Where will I charge an electric car?
The Ziya Bunyadov showroom has four charging points, free for our buyers. We arrange a 7–11 kW wall charger at home with a partner electrical firm.
How do you check a used car’s history?
Number of owners, mileage against the service records, paint thickness and accident checks, and the 120-point check. The report is on the car’s page and comes on paper when you buy.
Do you deliver the car to my home?
In Baku the handover is at the showroom, because an adviser has to walk you through the car. A test drive can start from your home, though.
