About the tour
A mountain weekend, May to October. In Quba we see the Red Settlement and the Tangaalti canyon, then climb the Gudyalchay gorge to Khinalug, one of the highest villages in the Caucasus, with a language of its own. The night is in a village house with home cooking. On Sunday we cross to Laza in the Qusar district and walk to the waterfalls. There is a lot of walking: bring trainers and something warm, evenings are cool even in August.

Day by day
Day 1
Beshbarmag, Quba, Tangaalti and Khinalug
We leave at 07:30 with a short stop at Beshbarmag mountain. The Red Settlement in Quba, then an hour’s walk in the Tangaalti canyon and lunch. In the afternoon we climb the Gudyalchay gorge to Khinalug for sunset and a home-cooked dinner.

Morning in Khinalug, Laza and the waterfalls
After breakfast, a walk through the village. Then to Laza in the Qusar district and on foot to the waterfalls: 1.5 to 2 hours with some gentle climbing. Lunch in Laza. We leave at 15:30 and reach Baku at 20:30.

Mountain guide: Quba, Gabala, Shahdag
He grew up in Qusar and knows the Khinalug road in winter too. He renews his first-aid course every year and walks at the back of the group on mountain tours.

The village house in Khinalug is simple, but dinner was the best of the trip. The walk at Laza is tiring; Ramil stopped every half hour. Nights are cold even in August, bring something warm.
