Primary school, grades 1–4
One class teacher for four years, native language and maths, five hours of English a week, classes of up to 20.

Each class in grades 1 to 4 has its own class teacher, who teaches native language, maths and life studies and stays with the children for all four years. English, ICT, music, art, PE and chess are taught by subject teachers.
We follow the state curriculum with one change: English gets five hours a week instead of two. At the end of grade 4 pupils sit an internal test set at international A2 level.
There is no homework in grade 1; in grades 2 to 4 it takes no more than 40 minutes a day. Children who stay for the extended day do it at school with a teacher.
