Damla has run tests since 2010
Every day the central laboratory in Narimanov runs the samples from 9 branches and from patients’ homes. We are 264 people: laboratory doctors, technicians, nurses, couriers and the call centre.
How we started
The laboratory was opened in 2010 by Elnur Mammadli, who had worked 12 years in a hospital laboratory. In the first year there were two collection points, in Narimanov and Yasamal, and 140 patients a day.
Today there are seven points in Baku and one each in Sumgait and Ganja, and nurses visit homes in Baku, Khirdalan and Sumgait. Every sample is run in one place, the central laboratory on Tabriz Street, so the result comes from the same analyser whichever branch you go to.
We are a laboratory, not a clinic: we do not diagnose or prescribe. The doctor who sent you reads the result.

- The laboratory and two collection points: Narimanov and Yasamal.
- 2013
- The Sumgait branch; couriers bring its samples to Baku twice a day.
- 2015
- The central laboratory moves to 118 Tabriz Street: three floors, with a collection point downstairs.
- 2017
- The PCR department opens: hepatitis, HPV, sexually transmitted infections.
- 2019
- Home visits in Baku; Khirdalan and Sumgait from 2022.
- 2021
- The Ganja branch and a daily refrigerated van.
- 2023
- Results by SMS and on the site, with the order number and birth date.
- 2025
- The ninth collection point: Memar Ajami.
The central laboratory
118 Tabriz Street, second and third floors. The laboratory works Monday to Saturday in three shifts, day and night; samples taken on Sunday are kept at 2–8 °C and run first thing on Monday.

- Liver and kidney tests, lipids, sugar, hormones, vitamins, tumour markers, infection antibodies.
- PCR
- DNA and RNA of viruses and bacteria: hepatitis B and C viral load, HPV, sexually transmitted infections.
- Microbiology
- Urine and stool cultures, antibiotic sensitivity.
- Clinical tests
- Urinalysis and stool analysis, worm eggs, occult blood.
- Allergy
- Total IgE and 20-allergen panels.

The equipment belongs to the laboratory. Each analyser is named as on its maker’s site.

We are not an official representative or partner of these makers: we buy the equipment and run it.
Quality control
- Every shift
- Before patient samples, each analyser runs control material at two levels. If a result falls outside the allowed limits, the analyser is stopped, its calibration is checked and the samples are run again.
- External assessment
- Several times a year we run unknown samples sent by an outside organisation, and our results are compared with those of other laboratories.
- Barcodes
- A tube gets a barcode when it is filled and keeps it until the result: the sample is run by its code, not by a name.
- Cold chain
- The couriers’ and nurses’ bags log their temperature; a sample that has left 2–8 °C is not run, and we take a new one.
- Doctor’s check
- A laboratory doctor checks and signs off every result. If a result is at a dangerous level, we phone the patient or the doctor who sent them.

Results and privacy
Under the Law on Personal Data, information about health is a special category. On the site a result opens only with the order number and the birth date, and it is sent to a doctor or an employer only with your written consent.
We do not work under compulsory medical insurance. The insurers we have contracts with pay for tests under voluntary medical insurance: show your insurance card at the reception desk.
