D-dimerD-dimer
What it shows
A fragment left when a clot dissolves. A normal result makes a fresh clot unlikely; a high one your doctor checks with other tests.
Your doctor reads the result: the laboratory does not diagnose or prescribe. The result sheet gives the reference range beside each value.
