The first half hour after an accident: what to do and who pays
The road police, photos, the claims line: the order of things at the scene, and which policy pays for what.

At the scene
- Stop and switch on the hazard lights. If anyone is hurt, call the ambulance: 103.
- Call the road police: 102. Without the police certificate a payout gets harder.
- Do not leave the scene. A driver at fault in a property-only accident who leaves faces a ₼100 fine and 4 penalty points (Code of Administrative Offences, Article 327.6).
- Take photos before the cars are moved: the whole scene, the plates, the damage, road signs.
- Write down the other driver’s name, phone and policy number.
Who pays for what
If the other driver is at fault, their compulsory insurance pays for your car: up to ₼5,000 of property damage per event. Anything above that can be claimed from the driver or from your own KASKO. If you are at fault, your compulsory policy pays the other side, and only KASKO pays for your own car.
When to call us
Right after calling the police: the claims line +994 12 555 40 40 answers day and night. In Baku an assessor arrives within 2 hours, records the damage on the spot and tells you which documents are needed. A KASKO event must be reported within 3 working days.
