Trademarks: file before the product goes on sale
Once the packaging is printed, changing the name costs far more than changing the logo.

A new product’s name usually becomes final when the packaging goes to print. If a similar mark turns out to be registered already, the name, the packaging and the advertising all have to change together.
The right order
- Search the name and the logo, 2–3 working days
- Choose the classes of goods and services
- File with the Intellectual Property Agency
- Only then print the packaging
Registration takes months, but protection counts from the filing date. If you plan to sell abroad, list those countries from the start as well.
A search costs ₼150 per class and a filing ₼380 per class; state fees are extra. This article is general information.
