Studying while you work: how much time a week it takes

Most of our learners work during the day. Before you enrol, work out three things: the hours a week, the lessons you can miss and your work trips.

Hours a week

  • Evening group: two evenings a week, 19:00–21:30, 5 hours in all.
  • Weekend group: Saturday or Sunday, 10:00–14:00 or 14:30–18:00, 4 hours.
  • Homework: 2–3 hours a week, a little more in the last two weeks for the final project.

How many lessons you can miss

For the certificate you must attend at least 80% of lessons. A 40-hour evening course is 16 lessons: attend 13 and you get the certificate, so you can miss 3. In an online group every lesson’s recording stays open to the group for 14 days, but watching a recording does not count as attending.

Work trips and shifts

Up to 3 days before the start you can move to another group once, free of charge. If you know your trips or shift pattern, pick the group around them: the evening, weekend and online groups of one course usually start on different dates.

The Labour Code’s paid study leave does not cover short courses, but an employer may pay the fee. When two or more people from one company enrol, each gets 10% off; anyone can also split the fee into 2 or 3 equal parts with nothing added.
